A recently completed body of work revolving around my personal experiences with computers. Drawing primarily from my formative years spent in internet cafes and internet message boards. I recounted the memories and emotions of these experiences and exaggerated them. Elements such as glitches, hacks and wireframes became vivid tubes surging through the scenes.
Re-contextualizing video game violence into oil painting was both entertaining and confronting.
The constant fact that you are painting an absurdly violent scene that never really happened allowed me to really explore ideas of perception and the power of value. Virtual versus actual and the blurring line between the two.
These are 9 of the works which reference counter strike. There are a total of 40 works for this body of work. If you are in Sydney, Australia. You can still see the exhibition at 116 Abercrombie Street, Chippendale. 7 days a week 10am - 4pm. Until the 29th of July.
